Mu dhéidhinn Lodaidh/About Lewis

Singing in English, Scottish Gaelic and Irish, Lewis MacKinnon performs regularly as a solo artist and as a member of the East Coast group, the Jug in Hand Band https://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/groups/2335439630  

In Jug In Hand, MacKinnon shares responsibilities with band partner, Brian England (check out Brian's new CD, titled 'Blue' at www.brianengland.com).  The two are joined by renowned bass player, Danny Sutherland.

Jug In Hand has recorded four CD projects.

Playing rhythm guitar, MacKinnon has shared his powerful baritone voice with audiences in the coffee shops, pubs and concert halls of and festivals of Eastern Canada, New England, Scotland and Ireland.

In 2006 he released an all Gaelic recording titled, A' Seo ("Here") which earned him an ECMA nomination in the Roots/Traditional category.

In 2008, he played in the Blas Festival, Scotland.

In 2010, he was honoured with the role of Artist in Residence designation at the Celtic Colours International Festival.

In 2010, he completed his first all-English solo recording, titled “Making More Of It”.

Music Interests

His music interests cover a broad spectrum including, traditional Irish and Scottish ballads, Maritime compositions, soft rock, Spanish, Irish and Scottish Gaelic. 

He is a composer in both English and Gaelic.
